The hotel now sits on one of the main gateways to Sheffield, adjacent to the Meadowhall shopping centre. Before we acquired and developed the site, the bulk of it was a scrapyard, along with a car pitch and vacant scrubland. We purchased the scrapyard unconditionally and were then able to work to acquire the car pitch and other land. This required a complicated set of transactions that involved diverting a public cycleway. This opened up a large site for the development of the 105-bedroom Travelodge hotel, along with parking for 100 cars.
