The building was the former prison cells for the adjacent police station. The police station closed around 1900, and the cells were then used to house an electrical transformer. That use ceased some 20 years ago, and the building had remained empty since then. We are in the process of revitalising it into a bottle shop and bar, adding to the eclectic leisure scene in Kelham Island.
